I wasn’t too geared up to play in the Quarterly Final yesterday. Mostly because I got hammered watching the Rockies take game two in the 11th inning. It’s wild to think that the Rockies could be going to the series! Needless to say, I was quite hung over and sleepy. I had planned on folding most of the day until the blinds got a little higher. The blinds dropped down to 100-200 for the first half hour and with an average stack of 16,000 I had plenty of time to just wait.

Things started off really slow with one guy just kicking up uncontested pots. I had the tournament chip leader to my right which was nice. After about 20 minuets of watching the play at my table I decided to start mixing it up. For the most part the play was just really really bad. I had expected the play to be a little better with this being the top 50 players but I forgot it was bar poker after all. Not to say that everyone was really bad because there are some very good players.The first hand I play 3 players limp in front of me in the cut off. I have the Ah-Qd and make it 800 to go. Only the chip leader calls. The flop is 10-J-J and he fires 5,000 into the pot. Okay……I fold face up and say nice bet. The next hand I play is 9d-8d to 800 from middle position. everyone folds to the SB who calls. The flop comes J-10-X and I bet 1200 when it’s checked to me. The SB min-raises to 2400 and I call. The turn is a Q. This time the SB leads into the pot for 5,000. I have 11,000 left and they have about the same. I push and get instantly called. I’m up against two pair and end up leaving when the un-fadeable 4 outer gets there on the river. It was really dissappointing. If I would have won that hand I would have been up to 30,000 and 10,000 behind the chip leader. So I’m out before the first blinds are raised and I guess I’ll need better luck next year. I left shortly after so I can’t even tell you who won the 3 seats, but I’ll let you know when I do.

Now I just registered for the WBCOOP and hope to fair better in this freeroll. I totally forgot that I have a hockey game tonight so if I make it deep I will have to sit out later. Maybe I’ll just skip the game if that’s the case. Anyway, as you can tell I’m kind of BLAH today……can’t wait to beat up on some of my fellow bloggers here soon ;) !
