PokerStars just announced today that it has released the Mac version of its software. While still in beta mode, the Mac PokerStars software offers nearly all of the same features as the regular version of PokerStars. The only notable exceptions are that at present the PokerStars Mac beta software does not support the Layout Manager or Preferred Seat features. Other than that, it is everything you have come to expect from PokerStars, except now, it’s on your Mac.

There are still a few things preventing me make the jump and one is learning a new OS, but I work in tech support and figure things out pretty easily. The compatibility thing has been a worry too, but everyone I’ve talked to tells me it’s not a problem if you know what you’re doing. I like to think I know what I’m doing.

Full Tilt has offered Mac support since December 2005 and I really find it surprising that a large site like PokerStars is just catching up. I expect this to be a very competitive market in the upcoming years. It could be now, I just never cared until I started researching a new computer purchase.
