One of the things I’ve been trying to focus on lately is organizing my online life. A lot of time can be wasted browsing forums, watching poker videos, looking for tournament listings, reading online magazines and so much more. How about having everything in one convenient location? Well, that’s the basic idea behind Pokermanager.com. Poker Manager is a new type of poker related software whose main goal is to be your one stop for all your poker playing needs.
About PokerManager.com
The program was released September 2007 and was co-developed by 2 EPT champions and 1 WSOPE Champion. That would be Peter Willers Jepsen, Bjorn-Erik Glenne, and WSOPE winner Annette Obrestad. Along with the support of some big name poker players Pokermanager.com has also locked up a partnership with Bluff Magazine. The software has been extremely well received in the poker industry with over 9,000 members at the time of this writing and is completely FREE to download.
Pros
Security - Approved by www.verisign.com and www.hackersafe.com so there are no worries about security. The software also guarantees no spyware or adware is placed on your PC.
Convenience - With everything located in on easy location you can find the information you need quickly. Want to watch videos from High Stakes Poker? Want to know the odds of a specific hand? Need to know the upcoming tournaments across multiple poker clients? Pokermanager has you covered.
Videos - I spend a lot of time on youtube trying to find quality poker videos. Pokermanager has a large inventory of all the videos I need.
Tournaments from all the major networks - PokerManager lists all the tournaments from the major networks, and according to their records they have over 10,000 daily tournaments in the listing, and by a click of a button, you are sent to the pokerclient that has the tournament of your choice. The software detects if you already have a client for that tournament.
Online Community - If you’re into social networks then PokerManager is welcome alternative. New members are signing up daily. It’s a great place to socialize or start a blog.
Private Tournaments - Pokermanager sets up private tournaments with good overlays for memebers of their community.
Free - It’s completely free.

Cons
Too many offers - I really hate spam as I’m sure you do. I received a lot of email offers for “special” tournaments more often than I like. Most of the offers are for rooms I don’t play at so they ask that you sign up through them. The good news is you can opt out of these offers. I have not received one since opting out.
Geared towards European Players - This may not be a surprise as the pros backing the site are all European players. I don’t know that this is necessarily negative, but most of the tournaments are offered on rooms that operate legally overseas. I noticed a couple of the tournaments were at rooms that do not accept US players. I didn’t pay close enough attention to verify tournament start times.
Client installed locally - Pokermanager installs locally to your hard drive. The client runs from your machine and is not web based. I really don’t like this if it’s not necessary and it seems that this could be totally web based. The client also starts up automatically when you start your PC so you have to disable it with MSCONFIG. I tend to shy away from programs in which I have to modify MSCONFIG.
Conclusion
I really like the concept and the features that Pokermanger has to offer but in the end it wasn’t for me. I think that the program can be very useful to poker players and offers a great alternative to other poker social networks. In fact, I think the social network aspect is the best part of the product along side with the multimedia. The tournament listings and calendar are very useful if you play across many networks, but in the end I had two main reasons for uninstalling the product.
Number one, I hate that the client is installed locally. This just really bugged me. No other reason than that, but it’s a big pet peeve of mine. Number two, I’m not into social networks. I’m rarely on Myspace and I never use Facebook. Overall I think some of you may find it useful and like it. Others of you may hate it. The nice thing is that it’s free so you lose nothing by trying it out.
