A Colorado Poker Player’s Blog

Winner of Harrington on Cash Games

Microvillain is the winner of Harrington on Cash Games Vol 1 & 2. I want to thank everyone for reading and taking the time to comment on the site. This contest was much more successful than the last one so I will probably have another one in the upcoming months. Books seem to be the popular thing but let me know what other kind of things you guys would like. Thanks for reading and helping April be the best month for this here blog.

Kind of Ironic, Kind of?

I find it kind of ironic that I decide to take time away from playing any serious poker and I end up kicking ass when I’m just goofing around. I guess that just confirms something I’ve suspected for a very long time now and that is, I am the King of the Donkeys. Shortly after I posted that I would be on hiatus, I finished 2nd out of 490 entrants Donkeys in the WSOP freeroll on Full Tilt. This past weekend, I won a bar poker tournament and got an entry to the quarterly final. I haven’t been trying and just having fun knowing that it’s nothing serious and no money is on the line. I’m just having a good time playing Donkey poker right now and I find it very therapeutic. I hope that this carries over when I decide to start playing for cash again. Which leaves me in a dilemma of sorts.

About a month ago I promised a friend that I would go up the Hill for his birthday. Well, that happens to be this weekend and I don’t really want to go. Lately a “normal” trip up to Black Hawk entails me dropping $200-$400 on the table (part of the reason for the break). I’m not sure if I will go or not. If I do end up going I plan on only taking up $100 and playing in a tournmant or some black jack. Who am I kidding??? Expect to see a bad beat post on Monday on how I dropped a whole paycheck up the hill this weekend.

Last day to get your comment, trackback, or linkage up for the Harrington on Cash Games contest. Anything posted after 23:39 Mountain Time tonight will not count. Winner will be announced Monday. Have a good weekend!

Harrington on Cash Games Contest Deadline

Harrington on Cash Games

Just a quick reminder that the Harrington on Cash Games Contest I’m holding is almost over. The deadline for entries is this Friday May 2nd 2008 at 23:59pm Mountain. There are currently 8 people entered so there is still a great opportunity for you to win some free swag. The drawing will take place this Sunday May 4th, 2008 and the winner will be announced Monday May 5th 2008. The contest has been pretty successful this time around and I want to thank everyone for participating. Read the contest rules and enter here!

Blogger Tournaments for 2008 WSOP

The 2008 World Series of Poker is quickly approaching and the online poker rooms are giving you a variety of ways to get there as cheap as possible. While the steps and other satellites the rooms are running are great, I like to think that the blogger tournaments have to be one of the easiest ways to get an entry. The fields are small and everyone knows that poker blogger and donkey are synonymous. There’s still plenty of time to get in on these so be sure to check them out.

Bodog

Bodog Blogger Tournament Series

Bodog is proud to host the Bodog Poker Blogger Tournament Series where poker bloggers worldwide are gathering each Tuesday in the Bodog Poker Room to earn points for a spot in the final tournament. The winner of the TOC will receive a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a $12,000 WSOP* prize package and be a part of Team Bodog 2008.

Unlike other “Blogger Tournaments”, the Bodog blogger tournament is open to bloggers ONLY (from what I can tell anyway). Some other cool stuff about this tourney include a bounty on pro players and a big $T overlays. Check out the Bodog Poker Blogger Tournament Series!

Full Tilt

Battle of the Bloggers Tournament 3

With tournament cash, Leaderboard pay-outs, and a shot at the Big Dance at stake, you’ve got more reasons than ever to play in the Battle of the Bloggers III tournaments. Get in on as many of these as you can handle.

Organized by Dead Money = Sir AlCantHang and tournaments hosted by other veteran bloggers, Battle of the Bloggers Tournament 3 is huge this year! Full Tilt has gone above and beyond any other online poker room offering 7 seats to the 2008 WSOP.

Burnt in Cards

Things have been really slow on the poker side of life lately. Some of that has to do with being burnt out and just getting bored with the game. Another part of the story is that I am working on two other projects right now that have been my primary focus. I find that when I do play I’m not thinking things through completely and generally playing like crap. I don’t have that fire in my belly right now in cards so I’ll be taking a break from playing any serious sessions or tournaments. I’ll probably donk it up drunk style at some bar poker tournaments while on my short sabbatical.

The postings of my personal poker play will be limited in the next couple months but I’ll still try to provide some worth while content. Hopefully I can find some time to get back to posting BBT3 weekly summaries. Anyone using the BBT3 tracking sheet I created?
